As we close out 2025, many of us find ourselves reflecting on this past year. For me, I not only look at what I accomplished, but almost more importantly, on who I became in the process. I am always mesmerized when I make time to review my journey over the course of the past year. I look at the wins, the setbacks, the pivots, and the unexpected lessons, and I carry all of it forward into a new year filled with possibility.

And one thing I know without question…growth doesn’t end because the calendar flips, and resolutions and goals aren’t achieved because the year is a clean blank slate. In fact, it’s quite the contrary. Personal and professional development is less of a milestone and more of a mindset. It’s a lifelong journey; one that asks us to stay curious, stay humble, and stay hungry for what’s next.

We Train Our Bodies…Are We Training Our Minds?

Most of us wouldn’t dream of going a full year without moving our bodies…stretching, strengthening, or building physical endurance. We recognize that muscles need stress, challenge, and repetition to grow. Well my dear leaders, our mental, emotional, and leadership “muscles” are no different.

  • Your communication skills get stronger through intentional practice.
  • Your resilience builds through adversity, reflection, and support.
  • Your leadership presence improves with coaching, feedback, and repetition.

Yet, unlike a gym membership, personal and professional growth doesn’t come with a neatly scheduled workout plan, unless U choose it.

In a rapidly changing world, with an even faster moving business climate, one thing I have really recognized lately is the leaders who thrive are not those who know the most, but those who are committed to continuous learning.

Looking Back at 2025: What Did U Learn?

Before racing into 2026 goals, let’s take a moment to look back.

Ask yourself:

  • What strengths emerged this year?
  • What blind spots showed up again and again?
  • Where did I stretch myself, and where did I play it safe?
  • Who did I become in the places and spaces where I was challenged the most?

These questions reveal not only our performance, but our potential. And that’s something worth unpacking, and unleashing!

Preparing for 2026: Growth With Intention

If 2025 was about navigating the unexpected, let 2026 be about designing your growth on purpose.

Here’s a simple framework I’ve created for U to begin:

  1. Choose one skill U want to master… not five.
  2. Identify what support you’ll need…resources, accountability, community, a coach.
  3. Schedule development like a workout…because growth doesn’t happen by accident.

A Lifelong Journey Worth Committing To
Growth is never “finished.” It’s a continuous evolution of the mind, heart, and habits. And as we always remind U, along this journey U must “trust the process”. The process is uniquely your own, and U get to craft it with your choices, decisions and actions.

Just like the gym, the work pays dividends:

  • U get stronger.
  • U get clearer.
  • U get better.

Not all at once, but consistently, over time.

As we head into 2026, choose to invest in the version of yourself U will become a year from now. Become the  person who leads better, listens deeper, adapts faster, and inspires others to do the same. Those are the hallmarks of true leadership.

And if you’re looking for a partner on that journey, U & Improved would be honored to walk alongside U…challenging, supporting, and celebrating with U, and your team, every step of the climb.

Here’s to a year of growth that starts now.

To the lifelong learners.
To the leaders who never stop improving.
To U.

With love and gratitude,
Jodi
