As hard as it is to believe, we have hit the halfway mark of the year! June offers all of us, as leaders, a powerful opportunity to pause, take stock, and realign. In the whirlwind of daily demands, it’s easy to lose sight of the bigger picture, and keep trudging along. So my friends, please recognize that a mid-year reset isn’t a luxury—it’s a strategic necessity.
Here’s how U can make the most of this moment, and the very best of the balance of the year ahead:
1. Reflect on What’s Worked—and What Hasn’t
I’m am a big believer in reflection. Carve out time to review your leadership wins and missteps so far this year. What initiatives gained traction? Where did momentum stall? Be honest, but kind to yourself—growth requires both reflection and grace.
Your Action Step:
Schedule a 30-minute solo “Leadership Review” session. Write down 3 things you’re proud of and 3 lessons learned so far this year. U will gain a lot of insight and perspective from this simple process!
2. Refocus Your Vision and Priorities
By the time we hit the halfway point, without focused attention, some of our annual goals could be off course. Revisit your original goals. Are they still relevant? Has the landscape changed? Use this time to realign your focus with what matters most—both for your team and for yourself. And then, make adjustments as U deem necessary.
Your Action Step:
Choose one major goal to recommit to and one goal to revise or release. Ahh, the power of clarity! Remember, clarity leads to better execution, so focus and release as needed.
3. Reignite the Energy for U and Your Team
The honest truth is this: leaders set the tone. If your spark is dim, your team feels it. Look within, and reignite your own passion by reconnecting with your purpose—and then, bring that renewed energy into your conversations, meetings, and decisions. Your team will see, and most importantly FEEL, the difference!
Your Action Step:
At your next team meeting, kick it off with a “reset roundtable.” Ask each team member: What’s one thing you’re excited to tackle in the second half of the year? Create space for energy and optimism to return, and feel free to go first to set the tone!
Leaders, June is your leadership halftime. Take the pause. Make the pivot. And step back in with power. U and your team, both at work and at home, deserve it!
And the best part? U don’t need a new year to make a new move—just a moment of intention.
With love & gratitude,
Jodi
